Se que al ser una bailarina debería estar más relacionada con las Óperas, pero en México la cultura de ir a ver este arte escénico es muy pobre y aunque me da un poco de vergüenza les contaré que este viernes 17 de enero fue la primera vez que asistí a una Ópera. Asistí por que mi maestro de ballet, Eloy Barragán, fue el coreógrafo y nos invito a verla.
Vi Carmen de Georges Bizet en Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, es una obra en 4 actos que dura alrededor de 3 horas, tuvo dos intermedios, al principio pensé que me costaría trabajo aguantar la obra pero fue todo lo contrario; la obertura me encanto (por eso dejo un enlace arriba en la que es interpretada por la Orquesta del Royal Opera House), te emociona bastante el ritmo de la música y su mezcla de ataque y suavidad, hubo muchos momentos en que me dieron ganas de pararme y bailar.
Los dos primeros actos se me pasaron súper rápido, y disfrute bastante la combinación de la música en vivo y las voces, dentro del primer acto hubo dos cosas que me gustaron mucho: la famosa habanera que interpretó muy bien Janara Kellerman (Carmen) y un dúo de Melissa Shippen (Micaela) y Alok Kumar (Don José) que esta lleno de cariño en interpretación facial, voz y cuerpo. El tercer acto fue el que me costo un poco de trabajo pues la escena es obscura y tuve dificultades para entenderla; la obra retoma su fuerza con una escena muy festiva cuando aparecen en la plaza el torero y Carmen con unos vestuarios de gala, y al final cuando Carmen es apuñalada por Don Jose te dan ganas de llorar, me pareció un momento muy emotivo no solo por la interpretación teatral sino también por la música que acompaña este acontecimiento, se escucha lejana y nostálgica.
Ha sido una experiencia muy buena, pues me tocó ser público y estremecerme con la interpretación de los cantantes y la orquesta. Tuve la oportunidad de convivir después de la función con algunos de los cantante, el director de orquesta y el director de escena, es muy diferente verlos en persona, te transmiten enseguida el hecho de que son artistas, se imponen no como en el escenario sino con la seguridad de que son algo más.
Tengo que llegar a ese punto en el que cualquier persona que te ve por la calle sabe que eres un artista.
My first Opera
I know the dancer should be more related to the operas but in México the culture of enjoy this scenic art is really little and although I'm a little embarrassed to tell you this Friday, January 17th was the first time I saw an Opera. I assisted because my ballet teacher, Eloy Barragán, was the choreographer and invited me to watch it.
I saw Carmen from George Bizet in Cedar Rapids Ópera Teather, it's a piece in 4 acts and has length around of 3 hour, it has two interval. At the beginning I thought it would cost work endure the show but it was the opposite; I loved the overture (that's why I left the link here up by the Royal Ópera House Orchestra) the rhythm and the mixture from attack and smoothness quite excites, there was moments when I wanted stand up and dance.
The first and second act spend really fast and I enjoyed so much the combination of the lived music and the chorus. First act had two thing I liked so much: the famous habanera, was sung by Janara Kellerman (Carmen) and a duet with Melissa Shippen (Micaela) and Alok Kumar (Don José), it's full of feeling in facial, vocal and bodily interpretation. Third act was the heavy one because the scene was dark and I had some issues to understand; the piece takes force with a really festive scene when Carmen and the bullfigther appear with elegant costumes. In the end when Carmen is stabbed makes you want to cry, its a very emotive moment not only because the interpretation but also the music accompanies this event, it sounds distant and nostalgic.
It was a really good experience because I happened to be in the public and I shuddered with the interpretation from Orchestra and singers. I had the chance to coexist after the show with some singers, the orchestra director and the scene director. Is very different to see them in person, they immediately convey the fact that they are artists, not as on stage but with the assurance that they are something else.
I have to reach that point when anyone who see me in the street know a that am artist.
